The Season of Epiphany. The season of Epiphany continues until NEXT Sunday 31st January when we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas) with a Family Communion Service (including Christingles) at 10.00am.

Children’s Society Collecting Boxes. The collection at the Family Communion Service NEXT Sunday 31st January will be for the Children’s Society. If you have a Children’s Society collecting box at home which needs emptying please bring it on that Sunday or contact Lesley Hudson, 523291.

Kildwick School Collective Worship, 2.45pm NEXT Friday 29th January. All are welcome to join the school community as they gather in church for their collective worship. Refreshments will be served in church from 2.15pm.

Christingle making session, 9.30am NEXT Saturday 30th January. All are welcome to help prepare the Christingles to be used at our Christingle service on Sunday 31st January. Contact Lesley Hudson, 523291, for more details.

Ash Wednesday, 10th February. This is one of the Principal Feasts in the Church calendar. Everyone is encouraged to attend a service on this day. There will be services at 9.30am (in the Parish Rooms) and 7.30pm (at St Peter’s Methodist Church, Cross Hills); both will include the imposition of ashes.

Palm Crosses for Ash Wednesday. The ash used on Ash Wednesday is made from last year’s palm crosses; please bring your cross back to church and place in the basket.

CMS/Jigsaw Kids Ministries Fundraising Coffee Morning, 10.00am – 12 noon Saturday 20th February in the Parish Rooms. Come and help raise funds in support of CMS and Jigsaw Kids Ministries in Manila. Admission free, donations accepted! For more information contact Sue Hargreaves, 633777.

Seminar with Margaret Barker, Saturday 16th April. We are looking forward to welcoming back Margaret Barker, Old Testament Scholar and teacher of what is known as Temple Theology, to Kildwick. Margaret will lead a seminar on Saturday exploring ‘Temple Themes in Christian Worship’ and will also preach at the 10am Parish Communion on Sunday. More details to follow.

Parish Weekend Away 27th – 29th May. We have booked Parcevall Hall, the Diocesan Retreat House near Appletreewick for our weekend away this year. Look out for flyers coming soon.

Review of services during the Advent, Christmas & Epiphany seasons. Feedback is invited from the congregation on the special services held during Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. Please write your comments and give them to Lesley Hudson, Glyn Evans or Robin.

Brass cleaning volunteer needed. We need one volunteer to help with cleaning the church brass. It would only be once every 4 months and takes around an hour. Please contact Lesley Hudson if you are able to help.

Editor of The Bridge parish magazine. Lesley Hudson is looking to step down as the editor of our monthly magazine. If you are interested in becoming the new editor please speak with Lesley, 523291 or churchwarden@kildwick.org.uk

 

 

Dates for your diary in January, 2016

Services for Christmas. Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed to our various services as we celebrated Christmas together as a church community: those who cleaned and decorated the church building, the bell ringers, the musicians (organist, choir and music group) and the lay ministers in worship (welcomers, lesson readers, intercessors and communion assistants).

Christmas Services Collections. The collections at the Carol Service, Midnight Eucharist and Christmas Day services will be shared between St George’s Crypt, Leeds, and the Church Mission Society & the Jigsaw Kids Ministries in Manila. The collection at the Crib Service is for The Children’s Society. Details of monies raised will be given soon.

Christmas Stamps. Don’t forget to save your Christmas stamps for charity. They can be left in the box by the church door. Postcards are also collected.

Pilgrim course, ‘The Commandments’, starting NEXT Monday 4th January and Wednesday 6th January. The third module of the Pilgrim course will explore the Commandments and will take place over 6 weeks. Each module stands alone so there is no requirement to have attended previous modules to attend this one.
