Easter 2008

Nearly forty people (and a few dogs) braved the overnight snow fall to gather at Farnhill Pinnacle at 6.00am on Sunday morning for the traditional Easter Day Sunrise Service.

Organised each year by the South Craven Methodist Circuit, this year's service was led by the Reverend Charlotte Common, Minister of St Peter's Methodist Church, Cross Hills.

The service included hymns, a reading and talk and prayers to celebrate the Resurrection.

After the service refreshments were served at Farnhill Methodist Church.

Ornithologically minded church-goers had a treat at St Andrew’s, Kildwick on Easter Sunday as swallows darted among the pillars and around the very life-like Easter tomb; a golden eagle hovered over the sanctuary; a peacock stood regally next to the new Easter Candle and that most colourful of mythical birds, the phoenix, soared above the heads of the congregation near the font.
