St Andrew's Church and Primary School Summer Fair - 22 June 2002
The Church and School at Kildwick held a most enjoyable
joint Summer Fair on Saturday 22nd June.
There were concerns about the weather forecast but event was
blessed with a beautiful sunny afternoon, so warm that the chocolate
melted on the cakes on the cake stall. Stalls were laid out around
the church lawn and cream teas served in the Parish rooms.
Visitors enjoyed music from young people playing on their accordions,
under the eye of their tutor Harry Hinchcliffe.
In the recreation ground volunteers from the Fire Brigade filled
the Ducking Stool with 250 gallons of water.
Many
shouted encouragement to those who, throwing filled sand bags
at the target, and cheered when the Vicar, Robin Figg, landed
in the water.
Several hundred red white and blue balloons were let go and they
flew off to distant shores.
Now children are eagerly awaiting replies from the cards attached,
to see which has travelled the furthest.
Proceeds from the Fair will be divided between the School and
the Church.
